What
is a Consultant Package?
In its simplest form, a Consultant Package is
a way of grouping related
objects together for their reuse either in the same ETI
Solution
installation or after shipment to another installation. A Consultant
Package may contain, for example, a template that adds a specific
conversion property, or a grammar to modify a certain value. In
other
cases, it may contain UNIX files or utilities; for instance, scripts
to
execute generated code on another operating system, such as DCL
scripts that execute on a Digital Equipment VAX system.
Here
are some brief facts about Consultant Packages:
 |
Consultant Packages are available
that provide a start on implementing many enhancements. |
 |
By starting an enhancement
from an existing Consultant
Package, much (and in some cases) all of the work is done
for you. |
 |
By starting an enhancement
from an existing Consultant
Package, if the functionality is the same as you will need,
much of the design will have been done, and you will be
left with only extending the design to handle your issues.
Each customer implementation is different, however, so
be careful to analyze whether the package is the right
starting point for you. |
 |
If and when ETI integrates
the capability into the DSL, it
may do that work based on an existing Consultant Package. |
 |
Consultant Packages are free.
